Top Ten Tuesday: Wishlist Books πŸ₯°

Hey y’all! Top Ten Tuesday is a bookish question idea that was originally created and hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, from way back in June 2010! Since January 2018, Top Ten Tuesday has been hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Thanks for taking it over! The idea is to make a list of ten books or bookish things on different topics each week. Check out her site for details on how to join and what the upcoming prompts are. 😊 You can also see all the posts from other bloggers linked on each weekly post on their main site.

This week’s prompt is to share books on a wish list, in the hopes that someone might grant one. Frankly I don’t expect that because it seems a lot to ask strangers or vague acquaintances to spend money on me. Still, here’s the list of ones mostly under $10 USD in case anyone feels struck. I’m looking at this as more of a way to share some good deal going on right now. Currently these are all on sale (thanks BookBub!) for way cheaper than usual!

The Ten Wishes

Here’s the wishlist with these books to see if they are still on sale, as well as a few others that are closer to full price if anyone is feeling particularly generous. If anyone does actually send me something, consider making it a book you love or recommend! I’d especially love that community aspect we have here on top of the generosity. ❀

Thanks y’all! Hope you can snag a discounted book for yourself. πŸ™‚ Drop a link to your own Top Ten Tuesday post (and/or wishlist!) for this week!

Top Ten Tuesday: Books with a unit of time in the title

This week’s prompt is books with a unit of time in the title. I’m going to try to get a bunch of different ranges of time (seconds, minutes, years, etc) to see how large a range I can get! Organized from smallest to biggest and each one is defined by the previous (with one or two exceptions that were a little weird to do that way xD).

Top Ten Tuesday: Quotes from my favorite nonfiction books

Hey y’all! Top Ten Tuesday is a bookish question idea that was originally created and hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, from way back in June 2010! This week’s prompt is listed as a quote-based freebie. I honestly had no idea where to start so I just started going through my reading journal for books I had quotes from. Once I realized I had a lot from nonfiction titles, I realized how much sense that made. I learn a lot in nonfiction titles, and authors usually have reign to be silly and include some humor. I will often highlight lines that made me laugh so I can return to them! So below are a collection of educational and/or amusing lines that I found in nonfiction books.

The quoted books

Travellers stick to their schedules. They travel to a plan and it’s rare that they’ll change it, even for something as magical as peeling away your onion layers and losing all your body weight and probably your hair just to make the jungle happy.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I was pumped to get but… still haven’t read πŸ˜…

This week’s prompt is about books that you bought and were super excited about and just HAD to get your hands on a copy of your own because you were desperate to start it T H A T S E C O N D and now it has been many, many seconds and you have not read it.

I don’t do this often because I don’t buy that many physical copies of books. When I do, it’s typically used and it’s typically books I haven’t heard of before the moment I buy them. That means I’m hyped to read it because I have barely actually heard of it. When I DO buy new books, it’s usually one I’ve already read and would like to have a copy of for re-reads. So I already know the story. xD I don’t have a lot to work with on this prompt, but here are a few I could think of, arranged from most recently added to furthest back added.

The List of Shame

The Excuses…

The Elder Scrolls Online: Tales of Tamriel – December 20, 2021

I didn’t read it yet because it’s too pretty to take out of the package.

Top Ten Tuesday: One Word Reviews for my Last Ten Books

This week’s prompt is One-Word Reviews for the Last Ten Books I Read (submitted by Susan @ Bloggin’ ’bout Books)! This is perfectly timed, because I read a good chunk of books in April but slouched on actually writing my reviews for them. πŸ˜… So here I can at least get some super tiny reviews done for them!

Last 10 Finished Books, from least recent to most!

Entrancing

This book was weird, in a good way. I didn’t always know what was going on, and I just trusted it would help me find my way. Akin to wandering through a foggy dim forest and hoping I’ll make my way out. (Full review!)

Top Ten Tuesday: 19 Books With Animals On the Cover (That I’ve Read!)

This week’s post theme is ten books with something on the cover, with each person choosing what thing they want to focus on! I originally thought water, and ended up being super surprised at how few books I had with actual water on the cover. And then also being surprised at how many had animals on the cover.

I ended up pivoting, and I found so many animals that this week’s post is books I’ve actually read before that have animals on the cover, while I’ll do another one later on with books I want to read that have animals on the cover. I’m also trying not to duplicate animals, just to make it more fun! πŸ™‚

The books

  • SCORPION – The Kinder Poison by Natalie Mae
  • FOX – The Fox & Little Tanuki, Vol. 1 by Mi Tagawa
  • CAT – The Travelling Cat Chronicles by Hiro Arikawa
  • CAT – The Cat I Never Named by Amra Sabic-El-Rayess,
  • DOG – China Rich Girlfriend by Kevin Kwan
  • SQUIRREL – The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, Vol. 3: Squirrel, You Really Got Me Now by Ryan North & Erica Henderson
  • WHALE – The Whale Library by Zidrou
  • MANTICORE – A Spell for Chameleon by Piers Anthony
  • MOUSE – Let’s Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson
  • MOUSE – Maus I: A Survivor’s Tale: My Father Bleeds History by Art Spiegelman
  • BIRD (CROW) – Gingerbread by Helen Oyeyemi
  • BIRD (HUMMINGBIRD) – Island Affair by Priscilla Oliveras

Top Ten Tuesday: Bookish Stuff I Want

Hey y’all! Top Ten Tuesday is a bookish question idea that was originally created and hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, from way back in June 2010! This week’s prompt is for bookish merchandise you’d (I’d) like to own. Admittedly, I’m not really intersted in most of the stuff people seem to get for bookish merch, especially the little knick knacks and decor that come in a lot of book sub boxes. That would just be clutter to me and get tossed in the bin. But below are a few things I might actually be willing to make room for in my in-progress library.

These gorgeous honeycomb bookshelves

I’m absolutely WILD for these bookshelves, and have been building my entire library vision around them. Unfortunately (for MUCH more reason than my personal inconvenience), the creator lives in Ukraine and is dealing with much more pressing matters right now with the Russian invasion. The store is HexagonicaEtsy, and you can purchase donation items through Etsy to support the seller while they cannot run their business.

These fake books to cover up clutter

Remember how I mentioned I hate clutter? Well if you haven’t noticed, I *also* love books. So this is a little wooden thing with cut out books surrounding it that can nicely house cables and whatever other crap I need to have on or around my desk, but would really rather not look at. And now I can look at much nicer more stylish decor. ^.^

Top Ten Tuesday: Books by an Author Named Jennifer (like me!)

Hey y’all! Top Ten Tuesday is a bookish question idea that was originally created and hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, from way back in June 2010! This week’s prompt is a freebie for folks to come up with their own. I’m extremely tired, but I wanted to get one out there. So today I’m looking at books that are written by an author with the name “Jennifer” to see who I’ve read and want to read! My name is also Jennifer, and I feel a small kinship whenever I read a great book by someone also named Jennifer. πŸ™‚

Jennifer Weiner – Big Summer

Come on, she’s a hit. Not only does she have a memorable name, but she’s churning out those fabulous books like no one’s business!

Top Ten Tuesday: Books with an adjective in the title!

Hey y’all! I know, I know… I’m pretty late to the game with this being my first book meme / top ten Tuesday post even after running the blog for almost three years now! I’ve seen Dini @ dinipandareads do these often and always enjoyed reading them, so I thought I’d finally give it a try!

This bookish question idea was originally created and hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, from way back in June 2010! Since January 2018, Top Ten Tuesday has been hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Thanks for taking it over! Check out her site for details on how to join and what the upcoming prompts are. 😊

This week’s is books with adjectives in the title. This was interesting because as I read through my books, I kept doubting myself and wondering if something was actually functioning as an adjective or not. I’m pretty confident in these now, but hey, whatever if not, they’re all still great books! I chose books from my highest rated reads for this list.

My top 10 books with an adjective in the title!

Why I love each one…
