Hey y’all! Top Ten Tuesday is a bookish question idea that was originally created and hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, from way back in June 2010! Since January 2018, Top Ten Tuesday has been hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Thanks for taking it over! The idea is to make a list of ten books or bookish things on different topics each week. Check out her site for details on how to join and what the upcoming prompts are. 😊 You can also see all the posts from other bloggers linked on each weekly post on their main site.
Today’s prompt (submitted by Dedra at A Book Wanderer) is books from past seasonal TBRs that I still haven’t read. I don’t really do seasonal TBRs, though, so I’m just pulling from my monthly ones that I typically do. I definitely have some that got shoved out for a month, then two, then three, then quietly dropped off the list and back onto the shelves. xD

The Books

The Reasoning
I do have some ideas as to why these books get pushed, at least in some cases. Others are just an inexplicable shrug. 🤷♀️ But some of the reasons are:
- I wasn’t in the mood anymore! Mood reading strikes again!
- It was literary or a book that required more thinking than average while reading… and I wasn’t feeling it
- Once I owned a copy, I was less excited to read it 😅
- I wasn’t actually that interested in it, but it is/was a popular book so I thought I’d give it a shot, but clearly couldn’t be bothered to in the end
Look. Of these ten books, a stunning EIGHT are on my physical shelves. I don’t usually buy a lot of physical copies of book unless it’s either a great deal on used ones from a used store or the library, OR it’s a book I’ve already read and loved and want to have a copy of. So the fact that I have so many that are just hanging out is maybe a sign that I buy books I don’t know much of, then don’t read them in favor of newer or more popular books for me that I’m immediately interested in instead of taking a risk on a relative unknown.
ANYWAY! If y’all see any books on here that you can recommend I actually do bother to read, please let me know!! I know I’ve seen Shadow of the Wind pushed and praised a few times by bloggers I visit regularly. 🙂

I read The Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet a few years ago. It was an interesting read!

Oooh good to hear! I feel like I haven’t heard much about it but maybe that’s just because it’s a bit older at this point. I’ve missed the wave

I love your reasoning. Many of the books on my TBR shelf probably fit into that criteria.

Yeah… I had to face my shame and expose myself a bit for this one haha not my proudest reasons but hey, in the end I’m in it for enjoyment so whatever works! 🙂

I haven’t read any of these books yet, but I’m super curious to hear what others have to say about them. The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires is something I’ve been thinking about reading, too!

The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires is a great read. Dark book, dark themes, but really really great.

It seems like it would be! I can read dark books when it’s sunny, so I’ve been considering adding it to my August list. We’ll see… 🙂

I really enjoyed The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires. It wasn’t quite what I thought it would be, but it was interesting. 😀

Honestly I feel like I have no idea what to expect from that book because as far as I know Grady Hendrix is a bit unpredictable. Which is probably great for his genre of writing. 😀

Shadow of the Wind is one that’s been on many of my TBR lists, too. I’m hoping to get to it soon, because I’ve also heard great things about it! I hope you enjoy it (and the rest of these) when you get around to reading them!

And I even bought a copy! It’s those ones that get me the most. xD

I think I have both an ebook and a paperback of this one, in the hopes that I would read it soon… hasn’t worked yet, but THIS YEAR I AM DETERMINED. 😉
