Hey y’all! Top Ten Tuesday is a bookish question idea that was originally created and hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, from way back in June 2010! Since January 2018, Top Ten Tuesday has been hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Thanks for taking it over! The idea is to make a list of ten books or bookish things on different topics each week. Check out her site for details on how to join and what the upcoming prompts are. ๐ You can also see all the posts from other bloggers linked on each weekly post on their main site.
This week’s prompt is about books that you bought and were super excited about and just HAD to get your hands on a copy of your own because you were desperate to start it T H A T S E C O N D and now it has been many, many seconds and you have not read it.
I don’t do this often because I don’t buy that many physical copies of books. When I do, it’s typically used and it’s typically books I haven’t heard of before the moment I buy them. That means I’m hyped to read it because I have barely actually heard of it. When I DO buy new books, it’s usually one I’ve already read and would like to have a copy of for re-reads. So I already know the story. xD I don’t have a lot to work with on this prompt, but here are a few I could think of, arranged from most recently added to furthest back added.

The List of Shame

The Excuses…

The Elder Scrolls Online: Tales of Tamriel – December 20, 2021
I didn’t read it yet because it’s too pretty to take out of the package.

The Arctic Fury – November 27, 2020
I didn’t read it yet because I started to and then it had to go back to the library before I finished and I just haven’t borrowed it again.

Zanna’s Gift – November 9, 2020
I didn’t read it yet because I wanted to buddy read with my mom around Christmas but we forgot and now it’s been several years. Also a good book in the pocket for a “Z” title…

Reign of the Fallen – October 7, 2020
I didn’t read it yet because it sounds so cool and I don’t want to be disappointed, plus once I read it I can never read it for the first time again so I like keeping it as an option.

Tiananmen 1989: Our Shattered Hopes – February 4, 2020
I didn’t read it yet because shortly after I added this book to my list, the world went to shit, and I couldn’t bear to read such a violent, sad book at the time.

The Wrath & The Dawn – January 8, 2020
I didn’t read it yet because I wanted to read the WebToon comic version of it first but now it’s daily pass only so I can’t read it quickly and I’m stuck a little bit. ๐

The Opposite of Fate – Nov 3, 2019
I haven’t read it yet because I forget about this book. Teal and orange is striking, but weird enough to be forgettable apparently.

How it Feels to Float – March 6, 2019
I didn’t read it yet because I started to read this one, and it was EXTREMELY grief heavy and I just couldn’t take it at that time. I’m a little afraid to read it now.

Pachinko – Dec 16, 2017
I haven’t read it yet because it’s literary and I have to be in the right reading mood for it. This one intimidates me a little because it’s historical and literary and popular. I’m in progress with it now, though!!

The Courtesan – December 4, 2017
I haven’t read it yet because I keep forgetting what this book is about and then when I remember how interested I was, I’m reading something else and put it off, and the cycle repeats.

Oh my yes. There have been many, MANY seconds for me with some of the books I own. I know what you mean, though, about some of the books just being way too heavy for the way the world is right now! I don’t want to read depressing stuff at the moment, so I don’t blame you one bit.
(My oldest owned book was one I got in 2011. It’s definitely judging me from the bookshelf.)
Happy TTT on a Wednesday! (my post)

Iโve had so many people tell me I must read Pachinko! Someday I will, and I hope you do, too. ๐

I’m in it now, about halfway! I wouldn’t say it’s blowing me away, but it’s going fine.

I am definitely guilty of this! I started really getting into reading and books around 2015 so to start off I bought heaps of books, but to this day I have probably got half the ones I bought still not read! Great post ๐

Hahaha I don’t think you’re alone in that! I’ve moved often until the past few years so never really had the chance to buy books because hauling them around was always a deterrent haha but now…. I’m in trouble. ๐
